Remember CW McCall’s “Convoy!”? Back in 1975 when CB radios were all the rage, “Convoy” was a bona fide hit on radio stations of most any format: Top 40, Country, everything except R&B. Never made it on “Soul Train” either. But it definitely was among the Most Requested we played on WIBR/Baton Rouge, way back in my DJ days.
“Convoy” wasn’t much a song. Not a tune that would fill up the dance floor; the Music Industry usually labeled it a “Novelty” song. ”Convoy” was hot for a bunch of reasons. The 55 mph speed limit had just been imposed nationwide along with the oil crisis of 1973. Thanks to a bunch of other regulations that ticked them off, professional haulers began using their CB radios to form convoys. Convoys were groups of truckers who drove together down highways faster than the speed limit figuring the police couldn’t catch ‘em all! Plus the convoys would also tell each other where the “Smokies” set up their speed traps or if there was a roadside emergency or even block off roads with their trucks in protest.
Now something more serious than the speed limit is in the wind. This is being written Sunday afternoon and by tomorrow, we might get the first look at just how far things may go and how bad they may get. Since Friday, this story has received scant MSM coverage. As expected, it’s trending big time on X.
Here’s the backstory.
Thanks New York City’s smirking Judge Arthur Engoron’s $364M fine and other restrictions imposed on DJT, his sons and his businesses, America’s 18-wheelers had enough. By Friday evening, “ X user Chicago1Ray, who appears to be a Midwest truck driver, shared a video late Friday night detailing that a number of truck drivers will begin denying loads to NYC on Monday.
"I don't know how far across the country this is - or how many truckers are going start denying loads to NYC - but I'll tell you - you f**k around and find out," Chicago1Ray said.
“He continued: "We're tired of motherf**king leftist f**king with Trump. Okay ... Motherfu**ers start to get tired of this shit. Our bosses aren't going to care if we deny loads. We'll go somewhere else."
"You know how hard it is to get in and out of NYC?" the trucker emphasized. (Zerohedge)
Ray claimed that 95% of truckers support the former president in the X post, which has been viewed more than 4.6 million times and received more than 50,000 likes since Friday night.
Another user, The Real Trucker Jake: "Liberals laugh at the thought of a trucker boycott of NYC. A few years ago, a trucker boycott brought the state of Colorado to its knees. MAGA patriots make this country run. Liberals make our coffee,"
More Trump-supporting truckers are posting similar comments.
To get a sense of just how serious this can be, some years ago when fuel prices were going skyward, I read an article discussing the economic triumvirate of fuel, trucks and survival. If memory serves, it stated approximately 300 trucks per day were needed to meet the minimum requirements of NYC’s residents, including groceries, fuel, retail and medical supplies, and garbage. This chart makes it clear how big, bad and quickly things could get.

More than 350,000 truckers are independent contractors who bid on the shipments they haul. They don’t have to go anywhere or haul anything they don’t want to. Since Biden’s inauguration and nomination of Julie Su, Labor Secretary, they’ve been none too happy. At all.
History shows small things are often responsible for big things. Federal regulations are bothersome and expensive. So far, all industries and businesses grudgingly live with them. But just as no snowflake can be blamed for the avalanche and no rain drop caused the flood, at some point the limit is reached, then exceeded. While none of America’s truckers will have to pay Engoron’s obscene fine, the two-tiered lawfare waged continually on their guy Trump, the MSM’s consistently biased ‘reporting’, combined with Joe Biden bellowing non-stop verbal abuse and blame on “Extremist Right-Wing MAGA Republicans”, taken altogether just may be that tipping point. Even a brief review of the consequences imposed by a truckers’ boycott are frightening.
By the time you read this, you may know. Then you can tell your friends you ‘read it here first!"‘

Thanks for reading this far. If you’re in the NYC Metro, you might want to pick up an extra loaf of bread, quart of milk and gallon of Jack Daniels! If you have friends or relatives there, forward this to them. This might all fizzle out but right now, the head of steam is still building.

Sadly, not much of a start, after all. Too bad - more because it re-emphasizes the belief Americans just don't give a damn when the rubber meets the road. Jim Bovard said recently only when TYRANNY! spelled out in a red neon sign hoisted in Times Square will Americans recognize what's happened. Considering the avalanche of freedom-killing actions by government over the last 5 decades - the most egregious over the last 3 - I'm inclined to agree. The boiling frog didn't notice either until it was too late.
My son worked for awhile at Trader Joe's in Shoreline, WA. He told me that two large semis a day arrived at the Trader Joe's to be unloaded so the shelves could be restocked. Shoreline, WA has a population of 59,000. Do the math for New York City.
