Bruce and I went to a toney New England prep school together. He went on to a wildly successful career in international finance; some know of my tempestuous broadcasting career.
He copied me on this note.

Kids;
Last night, Biden gave a short, five-minute TV address. There was no audience, and I doubt that many people saw it.
It was remarkable; it left me literally breathless. WHAT is he doing!!
Biden went on a rant against the Supreme Court and against its final and historic decision of the year. The decision describes the Constitutional power of Presidents. He said the court was rigged, that the decision was unfair and benefits Trump. (Ironically the decision likely will benefit Biden a lot)
The rant wasn’t surprising on its own. But Biden declared war on the Supreme Court (That’s a typical Liberal move: lose the game and demand a “do-over.”) He has declared war on the Rule of Law.**
By attacking the Court, he confirmed everything that was written in the Wall Street Journal over the weekend about him and his political career.
The WSJ’s Gerald Baker is a serious, objective, and trustworthy older columnist. His article is attached. You ought to read it as it provides a great historical perspective about Biden, the man, and his career. Biden’s rant seems like an exclamation point or underlining of what Baker lays out about a callous, self-serving, mediocre politician who flows with the wishes of his benefactors.
As Baker describes him: a “Yes man” showing contempt for Democracy and the voters.
** for those of you who have a hole in your education, please understand what the Supreme Court is:…
“The Supreme Court plays a very important role in our Constitutional system of government. First, as the highest court in the land, it is the court of last resort for those looking for justice. Second, due to its power of judicial review, it plays an essential role in ensuring that each branch of government recognizes the limits of its own power. Third, it protects civil rights and liberties by striking down laws that violate the Constitution. Finally, it sets appropriate limits on democratic government by ensuring that popular majorities cannot pass laws that harm and/or take undue advantage of unpopular minorities. In essence, it serves to ensure that the changing views of a majority do not undermine the fundamental values common to all Americans, i.e., freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and due process of law.”

Regardless of age or education, it would be a good thing if more Dads sent similar notes to their kids. Maybe they are.

I read Clarence Thomas' autobiography. It's a good book. Thomas grew up in Pinpoint, GA which is a bunch of shacks and trailers in the pines on the Savannah marshes. My parents' former home on the Intracoastal Waterway is only a couple miles from Pinpoint. Thomas came from nothing, but his Dad was a hauler with a truck who did odd jobs. His Dad instilled a tough work ethic in Clarence Thomas. His Dad was an honest entrepreneur who worked hard for his family.
If only more politicians and bureaucrats came from the same type of background.
My kids in their forties, don't even know the three branches of government. They probably think the Supreme Court is a TV show with Judge Judy.
