First, a large Welcome to all the New Kids who’ve joined our band of rowdy rebel rousers, troublemakers, and latter-day Freedom Fighters. If you can be described otherwise, welcome anyway!
While everyone is free, even encouraged, to browse the 300+ posts and podcasts in the Archives, my sense is few have the time. If correct, occasional redundant comments must be the norm. For those with excellent reading retention, your forbearance and patience is appreciated.
On that note…
Old friend and too-infrequent guest, Don “Mr. Barn” Williams, sends the following. If you’ve missed our recent pre-Election Day chat-fest, no worries - the promised post-mortem will be available soon. Meanwhile, Don penned the following note and, with permission, I’m able to share it with the rest of the class. Feel free to pass it around to friends and foes alike. As usual, it’s a ‘good read’.
First, I hope Trump REALLY gets the "personnel is policy" ideal and staffs his administration well and de-staffs the bureaucracy. He can without any interference by the other two branches fire everyone from the SES on up, a number of career-endings measuring in the tens of thousands. He should absolutely do that and appoint interim Secretaries with a small coterie of factotums if necessary.
Second, he should meet with the GOP caucuses of the Senate and House, promising to destroy any members who obstruct his agenda. Johnson is a spineless creep who can easily be controlled, but the Members must be assured that if they act like Republicans he will primary them into nonexistence. As I said when we spoke last, losing their seats is the only thing these folks really fear. On the Senate side, he needs to stomp his thumb on the scale to make sure the majority leader is not a McConnell clone, which the top two candidates are. Make sure that The Witches — Collins, Murkowski and Fisher -- know they will find a horse head in their beds if they continue to be who they are.
Thirdly, he needs to act like a winner. Reward his political friends, not just those who stroke his ego. Punish his political enemies. Enrich his allies through patronage. Impoverish his opponents. The electorate is with him. I got the EC total fairly close, and suspect that the popular vote totals were statistically suppressed.
Fourth, he needs to act like the Deep State operatives want him dead. Because they do.
Fifth, use his VP like the nuclear weapon he is. In other words, be unTrumpish and let someone else take the spotlight.
Bonus thought - Sotomayor is a severe Type 1 diabetic, so severe she travels with a medic to attend to her. Her life span is short. She has already had several crisis stints in the hospital. Thomas and Alito are old and tired. It pains me to think about Thomas going away, he is the Greatest Living American. But replacing Thomas, Alito, and Sotomayor with Cruz, Lee, and DeSantis would be a legacy redounding for centuries.

When balls battle, the big balls usually prevail.
Brad is right. Trump needs to go after his enemies. I like the horse head in the bed line. When Biden came in, he had a stack of Executive Orders all ready for him to sign on January 21, 2021. Trump needs to do the same thing. Trump can use the IRS and DOJ to go after his enemies. Adolph Hitler did this after he came to power. Hitler said (I paraphrase), "What? You didn't think I'd use the same weapons against my opponents that you used against me? Da ist Dumbkopf!"
His enemies already consider Trump as Hitler so...
It's time to go to the mattress.
