Like you, Brian, I had a brief hope that something, anything, might change due to being exposed for all to see. Unfortunately, Trump lost interest, and we missed a rare opportunity to change the direction of the ship. Sad.
The number one threat to America is debt, nothing else is even in the same ballpark.
DOGE was worth fighting for, but sadly few thought so, including most republican lawmakers, who saw it as a threat to their re-election. And it was a threat, it's hard to get re-elected promising cuts when Dems run around promising endless freebees.
Tough love is never popular with those who are on the receiving end.
They had a shot and could have saved America from herself, but alas, DOGE was scrapped for the same reason that our insane budgets always pass, the voters are idiots who refuse to look into the future and politicians care more about re-election than they do saving us from ourselves.
It's generally considered to be true that maturity is the ability to delay gratification.
Sacrificing Future Benefits for Instant Gratification is the prime irrational mover. I suspect many politicians opposed or apathetic to DOGE likely had financial benefits flowing from the 'waste, fraud and neglect', NGOs, etc. Still, one wonders why Trump didn't bloviate his butt off over Congressional "leaders" and a Republican majority didn't/wouldn't codify those findings asap. Also curious why the "public" didn't get their boxers in a wad for the same reasons. Guess the MSM didn't flog it enough, Contagious Apathy remains the current political pandemic.

The Blusterer in Chief has lost his view of the big picture and is focusing on his petty personal targets.

We are not a mature people.

just like everything else. Lots of smoke and mirrors, nothing really happens and back to business as usual. No one held accountable. ZOG as usual.
And so it goes.
But doesn't Hope ( and Desperation) lurk just around the corner....??
