Send In The Cliches
Another mass/school shooting. Another list of tragic deaths. Another few days of redundant “reporting”, editorializing and political posturing from the Usual Suspects, nonsensical ravings of emotionally distraught and intellectually paralyzed people. Ignorance on parade for the cameras.
Send in the clichés.
“Enough is enough. Congress needs to once again ban assault weapons and pass gun violence prevention legislation to keep our children safe.” Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Daily Caller)
Repeated by nearly every Democrat who can find a TV camera, this lie is a toxic carryover from the last 2 centuries. Regardless of who was speaking – Presidents, Senators, Congressmen - they should have been indicted for lying, fraud, and mental cruelty.
What does ‘enough is enough’ even mean? What place do trite, empty clichés have in such a serious discussion – unless the speakers are incapable of articulating anything meaningful or slightly intelligent?
Emotion and Feelings over Logic and Reason. Yeah, that’s the ticket!
Congress must act!
Ban Assault Weapons!
Who needs an AR-15?
“Congress needs to pass…gun violence prevention legislation to keep our children safe.” Repeating that whopper should get the speaker serious jail time for fraud and deceit. Even low-IQ politicians like Warren and Biden know there are reams of federal, state, and local laws in addition to separate regulations already in force (but rarely enforced) previously sold to distraught parents as “legislation that will keep our children safe.” Do laws against murder, assault, and rape “keep our children” or anyone else “safe”?
It’s criminally preposterous for the transparent sake of political bloviating so-called “elected officials” utter such claptrap with impunity. Worse is the non-stop broadcasting and printing of cliched lies every time a shooting occurs. Remarkably, the same politicians are struck mute when the weekend murder statistics from Chicago are reported.
Of course, ‘no motive is known”, even the parents had no clue. One thing that is known and reported without contradiction:
“Police say Hale was under a doctor’s care for an undisclosed emotional disorder.” (AP)
Not surprising considering her transgender status. What ‘care’ was she receiving exactly? Might it have been any of the basket of anti-depressants and behavior-altering drugs gobbled by a long list of other infamous killers?
Eric Harris age 17 (first on Zoloft then Luvox) and Dylan Klebold aged 18 (Columbine school shooting in Littleton, Colorado), killed 12 students and 1 teacher and wounded 23 others, before killing themselves. Klebold’s medical records have never been made available to the public.
Steven Kazmierczak, age 27, shot and killed five people and wounded 21 others before killing himself in a Northern Illinois University auditorium. According to his girlfriend, he had recently been taking Prozac, Xanax, and Ambien. Toxicology results showed that he still had trace amounts of Xanax in his system.
James Eagan Jones, 25, Aurora, CO, was taking two mind-altering psychiatric drugs, Sertraline (the generic name for Zoloft) and Clonazepam (the generic name for Klonopin). killed 12 people and injured 70 others in a movie theater.
Adam Peter Lanza age 20, prescribed Fanapt, a controversial anti-psychotic medicine, killed 26 and wounded 2 in Newtown Ct.
So why are the stories always about guns, ‘gun violence’, and gun control?
When you ingest your next helping of ABCCBSNBCCNNNPR News, observe the number of commercials for the medicine chest full of strangely named pills and liquids with Warning Disclaimers crawling almost invisibly across the bottom of your screen. Do you think Pfizer (Prozac, Zoloft, Xanax), Paxil, Wellbutrin (GlaxoSmithKline), Ritalin (Novartis), Lexapro (Forest), Luvox (Abbott Labs), Ambien (Sanofi) would appreciate their advertising dollars spent on reporting they may be the manufactures of certain medications having serious anti-social side-effects on young patients? Would healthcare providers and their doctors want similar exposure?
While there is strong public resistance to having personal medical records revealed to an overreaching government in order to exercise the basic human right to bear arms, there may be a more acceptable way for the prospective firearms purchaser and his/her doctor to acknowledge any prescribed psychotropic medications. Ignoring the information can go a long way in failing to find a workable solution that everyone wants: protection of freedom and the
law abiding without sacrificing either. Right now, none of the old worn-out “solutions” are workable or acceptable in what is purported to be a “Free Society”. Meanwhile, tyranny is making dangerous progress,
