So What?
Considering “A Preview of Disaster”
A recent TL Davis article contained serious food for thought. Take a minute to read it.
Based on current events, it appeared the time we all feared may have arrived; it could be just hours before the Unthinkable became Reality.
Fortunately, the moment passed, less eventful than feared but sobering.
The pause allowed one to consider, Armed with the warning from this latest event, where do we go from here?
TL’s comment:
“Sadly, I think, and have for a long time, the American people have to get serious about getting rid of all of these anti-American congressmen who view their seats in Congress as mere conduits to profits and power. The purpose of the power is to accept bribes for themselves. That would take general strikes, or specific, targeted strikes to put enough political pressure on them to resign. None of which is likely to happen, so our fate is apparently sealed. The discovery of our error will likely only come after all is destroyed. But I will continue to do what I can for as long as I can. What else is there to do when one is consigned to stand by the side of the tracks while the inevitable unfolds?”
Further discussion ensued, some with familiar themes.
One thought often expressed on social platforms:
"A well-regulated militia…", a phrase from the Second Amendment, refers to the idea that a citizen-based militia, trained and organized, is essential for the security of a free state. The Second Amendment's text emphasizes both the civic duty to participate in a militia and the civil right of the people to keep and bear arms.”
So what?
Quoting the Second Amendment, flooding the zone with pointed memes and clever clichés accomplishes nothing. It doesn’t inform the Ignorant or motivate the Informed. Without some positive action, it merely re-states the obvious.
And yet, banners, bumper stickers, and shouted 'Huzzahs!' fill the air at every rally and assembly, going back to Charlton Heston’s speech at the 2000 NRA Convention with raised musket and “cold dead hands”. Charlton’s hands are indeed dead now, and his words have taken on all the weight of a bumper sticker.
At the risk of being redundant: So what? “Actions speak louder than words”, but all I’m hearing is news about the actions of those bent on destroying Freedom while those who enjoy it are doing tragically little or nothing to defend and preserve it.
As TL noted above: “We are in the hands of fools…”.
How did that happen? “We” put them there with the power to control every aspect of our lives. So they do. Many of the “We” elected these fools by actively, naively, believing “they” would “change” something, anything to bring fairness, justice, and common sense back from extinction. The rest of the “We” elected them through the apathy of “I’m just one vote. What difference would it make? Nothing will change.”
Few spoke, wrote, or organized for change. Fewer still sought out the facts and learned the truths required to see the results and the costs of our choices dead ahead.
And just like that, here we are.
Again, TL: “…and unless we eliminate them, they will eliminate us.”
True, but…”Serious discussion invites serious trouble for everyone involved. Checkmate?”
The most consequential events of our lives with damning consequences is unfolding rapidly, right before our eyes. How much time is left?
Maybe now is the time to say “so what?” and begin acting accordingly.
Paraphrasing Reagan. “I’m from the Government and I’m not here to help.”
Thanks for reading this far.
BW
On a personal note, I apologize, especially to BWW Supporters, for the dearth of scintillating articles lately. For a variety of reasons that will go unmentioned, we are in the painful process of moving a thousand miles that way.
While the Missus and I are Lifetime Achievement Winners/Moving Division, this one is shaping up to be a real doozy. Out of necessity, BWW will be ‘dark’ for a while as modem, CPU, keyboard, and toothbrush move out. I’d try to stay in touch via cellphone, but my thumbs have a hard enough time with simple texting.
So…you’re on your own. During this brief respite from Substack’s BWW email onslaughts, consider the catacombs of thoughts, options, and decisions mentioned above. Who knows where “things” will be when I get plugged back in at the next Casa de Wilson!

Thanks! If we do, it will be a First!!
When I was a sportswriter, I lived in four states in a span of two years. At my final stop, I was asked to write an introductory column to the readers in this new-to-me locale; despite being a baseball fan, I called "moving" America's true national pastime.
Allbest to you and yours as you ... play ball! 🙏
