In my experience, big picture people usually suck at splitting a job up into individual tasks with achievable milestones. That’s what guys like me are for, but the bosses have to trust the experience and judgement of the people who make the rubber meet the road. An achievable schedule needs to be attached to any bright idea to build and maintain support from interested parties. It also helps the downstream people, think that press spokesperson, who can use each completed milestone to provide information to the masses.

We have a plenty of big thinkers in the public square, but few folks who have made things. With the Trump administration, we have a higher percentage of people who can, and have, built things. But the big guy at the top has not emphasized those traits that made him a real estate mogul. And his big-thinking underlings have little clue how important an achievable milestone is. All we little people care about is seeing something get done with our own eyes. Promises are not only irrelevant, but when delayed or broken can be demoralizing. That’s what Trump should be considering, and he should shape our expectations accordingly.

All that said, I’d sure like to see a 6:00am perp walk or two, just for the fun and excitement…

To be charitable (not my normal posture), three big reasons for the unrest are Trump's hyperbole regarding timelines, citizens' quests for instant gratification, and people's diminished attention spans. Given how many varmints remain in the bowels of government, I remain skeptical.
