Brad Smith on Speech, Hate Speech and Israel

I don't care how much you support Israel, but if you support limiting free speech, by passing hate speech laws, you are shitting all over the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Just keep that in mind before you support this new hate speech bill.

The Constitution forbids the Federal Government from limiting your speech. It doesn't say they can't limited it, unless it hurts Israel's feelings.

The measure of how well the Government will protect your right to free speech, is how well they protect speech you hate to hear. Just because you hate to hear it, doesn't mean it's any less protected.

Keep this in mind too. If the FEDS can shut people up for this, they will shut you up for anti-jab speech or pro-gun speech or anything else, only this time it won't just be Zuck censoring your posts or putting some stupid fact check comment on, now they will have the power to really punish you.

How many times have I heard my Veteran Brothers talk about how we supposedly fought for your rights and how we don't have to like what you say, to fight for your right to say it? I've seen hundreds if not thousands of posts like that over the years.

How many Veterans around the country will be marching on Washington to protest this proposed law?

Sadly it won't be enough to make any difference at all, most won't pick up a phone let alone March, it's for Israel you see, so giving up our rights, instead of fighting for them, is ok.

So much for that Oath of Office being something we stand for, even after we leave the service, right? That oath of office doesn't have an expiration date unless Israel is involved? Is that how it works?

And yes, I'm trying to shame some of my Army buddies, hopefully they will have the guts to say no to this crap, no matter how much they support Israel.

I'd like to see a few of them bust out the old meme about fighting for your right to say stuff they don't agree with.

PS: And if you do support Israel, it's fine to make it clear, just don't let anyone think you are full of shit, when it comes to at least speaking up for our rights. Remember, your oath brothers. It only takes a second to speak out against this.

One last thing, there always is. I shouldn't have to say this again, I think the Hamas Leadership is the scum of the Earth and I predicted they would bring nothing but grief to the people of Palestine.

Nobody is helping the people of Palestine by supporting Hamas, (that includes Nuttyyahoo when he supported them for years as a way to keep the Palestinian leadership divided.) Pro-Hamas protesters are all nuts, but keep this in mind too. Many protesters are simply against all the killing on both sides. Not everyone protesting against Israel is dumb enough to think supporting Hamas and terrorism is the way help innocent people.

When I say I think we should be neutral in world affairs, it's not because I don't care for the people of the world. I care about the innocent people in both these countries, I just know our track record. With friends like us, who needs enemies. We create problems everywhere we go and Israel would be better off setting their own policy and to do so they need to be independent of us as much as we are of them. With the Shekels come the Shackles.
