I have a friend who lives in Indonesia. Indonesia has about the same population as the USA but its population is spread out over 4,000 islands.

Every city, town, neighborhood has its own set of voting precincts. People vote in person between 7 AM and 2 PM on the one day of voting. After 2 PM it gets pretty hot in Indonesia.

The votes in each precinct are counted that afternoon in full view of the public. By the time of the 7 PM TV news everyone in Indonesia knows who won the election.

Election Integrity is Racist!

Many years ago, I wrote to my godfather, a Catholic priest and family friend, Father Don, that "Virtue is its own reward."

Father Don laughed at me. Hahahaha. It took me a long time to figure out that old saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" and the saying, "No good deed goes unpunished."

Still, after having to visit the clinic twice with the doctor inserting a tube up my penis, I did learn the virtue of chastity (in certain situations.)

I disagree with Barney on one point. I don't believe in Original Sin. I do NOT think we are creatures of hate, violence, lies, theft, and adultery. Envy is a big sin that almost everyone seems to have but it's not everywhere.

We all have faults and failings but that doesn't mean we are innately evil animals.

If we truly are the Children of God, how can we be evil?

Wouldn't a man of his considerable accomplishments at least deserve the respect of his name until you get to know him better?

BW: All of us kids and adults had nicknames in the upper Midwest. It was a sign of affection and comradery. I thought they did the same thing in Louisiana? East Coasters don't do nicknames unless they are in the Mafia. Italians are good at nicknames.

Good points. Playing to an international readship needs "read the room " awareness IMO.

No worries. A good explanation works wonders.

BW: You also makes good points. Mark Twain was famous for tailoring his lectures to the audience.

But I'm just a wise ass making comments. You have to read the room. LOL.
