I only have one radio disc jockey story:

It was in the early 1980s. I was working swing shift as a seaplane mechanic at Kenmore Air Harbor. My shift ended at 1 AM.

I'd pick up some burgers and beer on my way home, eat, and then go to bed at about 2:30 AM. I'd have the stereo set to the local FM rock station in Seattle. They'd play soft rock at night in the wee hours of the morning (cliche alert.)

I'm just nodding off, and the fecking DJ put on "Time" by Pink Floyd. The song starts with chimes and alarm clocks. It woke me up.

I called the FM station. The DJ answers. I chew him out for playing alarm clocks at 3 AM. "Are you a sadist!" I shouted into the phone.

The DJ just laughed at me.

I quit listening to that FM station.

Thanks for the enjoyable discussion of your radio days with John Nolan. Stories are the best, maybe the only, way humans see the world and progress.

Nolan's "miracle" stories are amusing. The stories I know are 50-50. Half the time some miraculous occurrence saves some dumb ass. The other half of the time, the dumb ass dies because of his dumb ass behavior in a humorous way.
