Now that everyone else has opined on the GDB, here are my, sadly, unsolicited final thoughts…(Sorry - this should have been to you yesterday, but Gracie had her 6-month “Toe-to-Tail” All Day Review at the vet. She’s fine. Thanks for asking.)
A few weeks back, Georgetown Law Prof Jonatan Turley made a profound and visionary statement on FOX:
“Based on everything I’ve seen, Kamala Harris cannot win the election, but Donald Trump can lose it.”(paraphrased)
Tuesday night, Trump proved he was up to the task; Harris played him like legendary Kevin VanDam teased large-mouth bass, taking the bait every single time.
For all their Leader’s vaunted debating talents, the MAGA troops were left scratching their red baseball caps.
Never fear! FOX Pundits to the rescue with all the answers:
“That was just Trump being Trump!” – The erudite Jesse Watters. With two exceptions (Hume and Gutfeld), the rest in the FOX den piled on, mostly skewering ABC’s “moderators” for a flaccid performance of their own, failing to fact-check or otherwise give Harris any grief- like asking tough questions about her flip-flops or demanding she answer in the specific rather than soap-opera tails of growing up destitute.
While Trump (being Trump) landed some policy haymakers, it’s questionable uncommitted viewers saw them since they were camo’d so well with his customary bravado, best used at campaign rallies. The split screen did not serve his dark, foreboding glares well, but then, Harris's practiced smirks didn’t spruce her up either.
One thing glaringly obvious: Harris’ 5-day rehearsal, complete with Hollywood coaches, stage, lights, and Trump doppelganger paid off. Her notorious Word Salads were replaced with a fluid, articulate elocution never before seen/heard in her 3.5 Veep years. Her much-meme’d cackle was replaced with facial contortions created to send demeaning messages and ridicule whatever Trump was bellowing.
Based on her verbal acrobatics alone lends tacit support to the allegation her campaign was the benefactor of leaked questions a la Donna Brazile to the Hildebeast in 2016. (It’s instructive that, to this day, CNN, FOX, ABC, and other “news” outlets welcome an admitted cheat and liar to their programs.)
More damning than the charges of leaked questions and the ABC moderators’ prejudice was Harris’ breezy regurgitation of proven lies about banning fracking, Trump’s Charlottesville comments, J6, “Bloodbath”, combat deaths, elimination of private health care, gun confiscation, open borders, defund the police, bail for BLM protesters, Project 2025, a national abortion ban and others, all sprayed without interruption, despite the ABC Network’s reports confirming the talking points were proven lies. How could she make such wantonly dishonest statements without blinking unless she knew in advance Muir/Davis would not call her out as they did five times to Trump?
So who won? As they say, the vote is “along party lines”. Democrats are cheering Harris; Republicans believe it was Trump and Undecideds are – guess what? - Undecided! (No joke!) While the usual polls indicate Harris the de bait winner, overall there has been little movement in the polls for President.
FOX Superstar, Greg Gutfeld, said on The Five today, that he couldn’t say who won, but he knew who lost: the American people.

It was almost exactly what I expected.
I figured Trump wouldn't be prepared but Harris would be and the moderators being in the bag for Harris was a given. I think Trump won by a hair, simply because Harris lied so often and her demeanor was far from pleasant, over time it will cost her votes. I know it's not supposed to matter, but the people tuned in to see Harris and decide if she's the real deal AND if she's likeable. She is the real deal or at least she can pretend to be one if prepped enough, but so was Hillary and she's about as likeable.
I doubt if anyone will change their mind about voting FOR Trump, people either like him and his policies or they don't.
The question is whether or not the debate made more people want to vote for Harris and against Trump. Did she become more "likeable" is the big question, it' s not policy that's for sure. I get it that Trump haters will like her performance, but will the fence sitters feel the JOY? She can't be both the Nice lady who fills your heart with kindness and the bitch who put on that performance.
Did it make her seem more "honest" or did we see a lying prosecutor who was given a hand up by the moderators? Nobody likes a cheater or a liar or a bitch, she appeared to be all three. Will that help Get out the Votes?
It's all about feelings for the fence sitters, did she give them the warm fuzzy feelings they were hoping to see thanks to the "JOY" message.
Would you like to sit down and have a beer with the woman on that stage? I'd rather poke my eyes out with a blunt stick than spent a day around her, I'm sure I'm not the only one.
By the way, the fox crowd would have liked to see Trump on the attack and using zingers on her etc. But the last thing Trump needed to do was make her into a sympathetic figure and if he'd "won" the debate by being a Dick to her, that would have actually given her a long term win. Her likeability would have gone up instead of down as the press would have amplified the message that Trump was bullying her.
She didn't get bullied, it would have helped her more if she had.
I looked up the TV ratings. 47.5 million American dummies watched the debate. Maybe they were hoping to see a fight break out. Maybe Trump would throw a bucket of water on Harris and she'd melt away. Maybe Trump would sing, "If I were the King of the Foooorrrreeeeeest!"

In other news, a UK study shows that children born in 2000 and now entering kindergarten are two years behind in social skill, hand to eye coordination, and have anger issues. Gee, I wonder why.
I doubt if a word in the debates was said about the damage the lockdowns caused. Or the million dead Ukrainians and Russians and Gazans and Israelis. Or the dying of King Dollar.
