Brian,

Your characterization of me as a "keyboard cowboy" is amusing, considering that I still work 8-10 hours a day on our tree farm. In my spare time I am actively involved in a project with the VA, and am quite proud to be serving on the advisory boards of several medical device companies.

As for your comment regarding individuals who have never fired their father's 12 Ga shotgun, you may be interested to know that I built a gun range on our farm that is actively used by my neighbors and an assortment of low-life friends. People from Arkansas love their fly fishing, pick-up trucks, and especially their guns.

I found the tone of your response to me to be hurtful, and somewhat mean-spirited. I appreciate that we have not seen one another for many years, but your assumptions about my participation in civic matters, and political activities is considerably off. I am not that guy who bitches, and expects others to carry his water.. I have never been that guy, and at my age, it gets easier each year to speak up.

Stay Well

Something is seriously amiss -altho I am unable to identify the specific problem. Using Occam's Razor, you presumed a recent Substack article sent to thousands was, instead, a personal email from me to you. Despite all the exceptions and explanations contained in it, how is that possible?

The piece begins: " Here is a selection of posts randomly collected from the Comments Section of web sites focused on Current Events. The subject: “Illegal Immigration”.

Despite having re-read it several times, I can't find "Bob" anywhere in the 'graph.

The "keyboard cowboy" comment was made by someone named "Bob" to someone named "Ray", part of a quoted commentary from another source as mentioned at the opening. Again. no "Bob".

The "12 ga shotgun" comment also does not contain "Bob" or any such reference to you. To my memory, your father didn't own any weapons. While enviable, your gun range is irrelevent and immaterial to the article addressed to any number of readers. I'm thrilled to know Arkansans love their guns. FWIW, having lived in LA, GA, SC, VA over the last 50 years, I've never known Southeners to feel any differently.

Your entire last paragraph is a mystery in a bucket of steam. How you could take personal offense at something not concerning or addressed to you flies in the face of someone I believed to be logical and cogent with a reasonable command of reading with comprehension. You may be familiar with the caveat to "ass/u/me" - makes an ass out of you and me. Except me in this case. I have not assumed anything about your "participation in civic matters, and political activities". While they may be interesting, inasmuch as we have not been in touch since 1963, whatever they many be is none of my business.

I'm glad you have found it "easier each year to speak up". That's commendable - altho, barring a revelation, your example above isn't one of them.

I look forward to reading my "hurrful and somewhat mean-spirited" response at your earliest convenience.

Brian,

When my dad was a younger men he enjoyed hunting deer and wild ducks. And yes, he did own a 12 Ga shotgun, as well as several other rifles.

I clearly misread the information you sent, and in the process made a total ass out of myself. Given my inappropriate response, I do hope that you accept my sincere apology...

Although it does not excuse my behavior, a health issue that I have been dealing with this year has left me considerably more thin-skinned when confronting real, or imagined criticism.

Hopefully you will give me a Mulligan this time., and please keep me on your distribution list

Kind Regards,

Bob C
